The Child Development Unit has raised the funds for a computer to use to connect to the internet. It's primary use is for parents of partially sighted children to use for research while their children use our child development unit, but it also has many secondary uses:
* Members of the Society can also use it for research and entertainment on the internet.
* It acts as an information store, for all interesting information parents or members have downloaded.
* Once we have information we can send it to parents who do not have their own internet connections via disk or as printout, and in the future when we have a large bulk of information to release we will be sending it out on CD.
* We also run a search service for parents who do not have their own connection, sending them results on disk or as printout.
* In the near future we will be using the machine for members to add their own web pages to this site.
The dial-up account for the internet project was provided free of charge
by Mistral Internet
The computer for the internet project was supplied by Premier Computers, Shoreham-by-Sea, West Sussex. And was bought using money from the RNIB.
