Brighton Society for the Blind Books on Tape Appeal |
We are currently trying to expand our books on tape library. While we have books in various formats for people with partial sight (for more information see the Library section) the books on tape are by far the most useful and popular. We currently have over seven hundred tapes, which is a lot if it was a private collection, but is tiny compared to even a local mainstream library, and a huge amount of the tapes are always on loan.
We are also trying to increase the variety of tapes available, most of the books on tape we have are mystery or thriller based, with some classics and other genres. While we are very happy to receive more mysteries and thrillers, we would be overjoyed to gain more classics and increase the number of autobiographies, fantasy, science fiction and non-fiction tapes available.
Please help - if you have any books on tape that you no longer want or need, can you please send them to us, we would be very grateful. As we have said above, any type of tape is good. If it is in a foreign language, that is fine as well, we have lots of members and some will be happy to find we have tapes in what can be their first, second or third language. They also provide good practise for brushing up language skills.
