The Brighton Society for the Blind was founded in 1860 by Dr William Moon.
For the latest information about the Society, please read our pages on the Sussex Vision Centre, recently opened by the Society. There is an Introduction, and more specific information about the Centre of Excellence.
For other recent information and to find out more about the Society, parts of our most recent Annual Report are also available, as are parts of the 1995/96 report. A view of some of our history can be obtained from two documents published about the work of the Society over the last one hundred and thirty-seven years:
A Century of Achievement - covering the early years of the Society and Moon's work.
100 Years of Service - about our first one hundred years.
Information about what is currently happening in each Department is also available.
