Welcome to The Sussex Lantern's Craft Department!

Here we will show you the various options available, a wide selection of activities to stimulate mind and senses alike. For over 10 years, The Sussex Lantern charity has been providing Arts & Crafts tuition in Basket Making, Soft Toys, WEaving, Painting and a wide variety of other pursuits to it's members and has very successfully exhibited work by associates in the County competition for visually impaired people.

The classes are overseen by a teacher and an enthusisatic team of volunteers. The craft sessions help member on two fronts: by expressing themselves artistically and by helping to keep hands dextrous and minds active. These sessions also act as a useful social meeting place - there's always time for a chat whilst weaving or paitning!

The Sussex Lantern has recently employed a full time Arts Development Manager to redevelop the Arts and Craft section and whose main interest lies in Pottery, and is hoping to soon be offering pottery and other crafts to both Sussex Lantern clients, members of the Hollingdean and Brighton & Hove communities, and any other interested parties.

A small charge will be made for firing and clay used also other articles produced.
