Our services will include a fully equipped pottery studio, staffed by a qualified potter, giving the opportunity of being able to take part in arts and craft activities, which will give the visually impaired a sense of self worth. The benefits of this are many, one is the feeling of being able to express themselves artistically, using the most tactile and physical materials. Another is the feeling of independence, creativity, ability to learn and be productive despite limitations that life has imposed on the clients.

Clay is a versatile medium that can be worked to simulate just about any other material, any desired colour or effect - smooth, dry, shiny or textured - can be applied to it's surface to give the visual and tactile quality of wood, fabric, paper or metal.

Working with clay is a very immediate way to express artistic thoughts and ideas and the visually impaired and disable respond well to the seductive qualities that only clay can offer.

We are planning to work with children in our integrated Over the Moon Children's Centre and offer pottery to visually impaired and disabled children as an extension of the activities already planned by the nursery.

Coming below will be examples of some of the work we have done - as this section of the Craft Department is still in the process of being built... we don't have any examples yet but they won't be long!

We welcome any input you may have, whether you are a prospective client interested in details, a professional with time to give or equally someone who would like to volunteer some time to assist, someone with equipment or funds to donate or if you are able to help promote the Centre or Department - drop us a line using the details below.. we would be delighted to hear from you!
